1. Thanks for the update Mark! I'm eagerly awaiting news of Kirby's next venture.
2. Kirby was the only Local live conservative host in this hostile, liberal enclave. Note the two key terms Local and Conservative.
At present my only reason to tune KVI is the Northwest Auto Show 06-08 on Saturday. That is the only time for KVI. When Kirby comes back on the air, which ever station, that is the staion I will tune in, fairfully.
3. Kirby and KVI were running on recycled fumes long before Rush went to rehab and KTTH. How did Kirby keep "filling" four hours with about one hour of information? Kirby repeated himself Kirby repeated himself.
This morning Glenn Beck said that Obamacare is sure as 'heck' going to happen in spite of us. Last night Bill Cunningham and John Ziegler said that Obama's re-election is a slam dunk. In spite of our lock on talk radio. Think about it.
4. will the "slavetraders" getoff kirby's back!
5. If I had to choose between Laura Ingraham, David Bose, and Kirby Wilbur, I'd choose Kirby Wilbur. Put him up against the afternoon commute and he'd win. He'd probably win against the Rush cleanup crew (Medved and Hannity).
6. I'd like to hear him in the late afternoon drivetime.
Frankly, I'm not much on either the two nasal New Yorkers who are on at that time. They tend to be rude and loud.
And to the troll at @3, if you're going to try to act like a conservative (as badly as you've tried) at least get a U.S. based email address. Yes, we know that Rush went to rehab. Wouldn't it be be great if they had a rehab program to help the major media kick their addiction to Obama brand koolaid?
7. I wonder if there is a way to complain above the program manager's head. It sounds to me like he is being duplicitous here. I want to make sure the right people know what's going on to make the decisions.
8. Kirby was never too entertaining my eyes. He has the same problem I have with Boze. They too often defend the GOP and attack the Democrats just because they are GOP and Democrats. I would rather see my talk show hosts defend their principles and ignore the parties.
Beck does that even though I disagree with him often. Judge Napalano does that as well.
9. Mark - Please delete the last 5 duplicate posts - it seems like Lysander may have done this on purpose. They clog up this blog and bore the heck out of many readers. Thanks.
I wish Kirby well and think he was deceived by KVI's clueless management. If I were him, I'd hold out for a better offer and go the way of Bryan Suits.
10. Buy-bye to another wingnut!
11. KVI does this to all radio personalities.
Micahel Medved, Brian Suits and now Kirby Wilbur.
Goodbye 570 AM and Fisher Broadcasting.
12. Yeah, I sent KVI a rather blunt email Friday when I heard they let him go. Now they are just basically a station that plays repeats of syndicated shows with the exception of the PM drivetime. No local interest what so ever. I also mentioned that getting rid of Kirby was going to cost the station advertising dollars. Looks like I might be right. Oh well.
The 570 kHz frequency on the AM band might be opening up soon.
13. Dittos to 2. Tom Turner, Saturday mornings, is an excellent reason and maybe the only reason to dial in KVI. Turner, unlike almost everybody on radio, sounds real. Have no doubt that he can do better political commentary than Kirby, who sounded like somebody dropped a quarter in him.
Kirby was good, once upon a time, back when he was fresh and on nights. Back when KVI (KKKVI, said Jean Godden) was dangerous and vital. Now it's old and limp.
Several years ago P.J. O'Rourke wrote that talk radio, left and right, is at best a zero-sum game. It's not winning hearts and minds aside from the choirs it preaches to.
That was then. Now a good case can be made that right-wing talk radio is losing ground for the right and pushing the middle to the left. Conservative talk really hasn't had a score since 1994.
Maybe NY-23 will finally go our way (us trolls certainly hope so, johnny), but it still looks like another Rush-right FUBAR SNAFU ... sort of like johnny.
14. Best local radio: Dori, by acclamation (mine). He's a recorvering liberal. Like most radio talkers he's fatally attracted to stories about kinky sex, animals, or kinky sex with animals. He has a not-made-for-radio voice.
But he's the only voice that matters about WA/Seattle totalitarian one-party rule.
The incredible shrinking Carlson, meanwhile, still hasn't learned how to share a bully pulpit with a bully, and Boze ... oh, well. He seems to mean well, when he's not doing his sissy-slap act with his producer.
The bottom line, as Carlson says over and over, is that radio has not necessarily advanced beyond Joe Pyne (go gargle with razor blades) even after Rush reinvented the medium.
Dori Monson-Tom Turner in 2012. Gotta be better than Palin-Goldstein.
15. Thanks for the update Mark.
I remember Kirby when he was hanging around the Mike Sigl show on KVI back in the early Nineties and I was glad when he got a show of his own.
I always enjoyed listening to him even though we were on opposite sides of virtually every issue. He didn’t hesitate to host guests differing view points and ALWAYS treated them respectfully.
He was a gentleman then and remains one now. I wish him the best and am very confident he will land on his feet
16. #3, 13 and 14 are all the same person posting under different names. (Check email addresses.) If you have faith in what you're saying Willbur/etc./A-Hole, put your own name on it. By changing names you come off as a troll and a sock-puppet.
I personally think that NY-23 was a wake up call to the GOP that the rank and file is sick of putting up "Democrat Light" candidates. The fact that a write-in candidate almost won shows the Rush and the rest of the conservative wing of the GOP are on the right track.
Yes, we may have lost it. (Maybe, the votes are still being counted.) But we'll get it back with the next election.
17. Just wondering if we will ever have any LOCAL talk radio again. Or local news radio that actually gets out of the studio. The incredibly shrinking local media is really astonishing. It's not that the locals did a particularly good job of guarding the henhouse, but there is very little left.
18. This was a really stupid move. I don't even listen to him and I think its a stupid move. I gave up on KVI when they got rid of Medved and Rush. Now, they've really done it.
19. Thanks for this important update, let's keep up the pressure!
20. This was a really stupid move. I don't even listen to him and I think its a stupid move. I gave up on KVI when they got rid of Medved and Rush. Now, they've really done it.
21. Thank you Mark for the update!
I upset to learn that KVI has made yet another program change for the worse. At this time I have had to switch my dial to 770. KVI have lost a loyal listener.
22. My choice would be to bring back Brian Suits (yeah, I know that's not happening) or former late night KIRO host Lou Pate (which is probably not palatable to Kirby's listening audience)but he had the highest ratings at KIRO despite being a 1-4am show and I thought he was entertaining. I don't believe he liked Seattle though, but then, that may have had more to do with the political climate and groupthinkers here than the city.
23. When it all comes out, almost certainly Kirby was fired because of pressure from the liberal Demo thugs, scallywags and hangers-on. The likes of Bagdad Jim, the Senator in Tennis shoes, Queen Christine, ex-Mayor 'not worth a Nickle', and Emperor Dow couldn't take the truth being told about them.
Kirby was fair and as close to balanced as those liberals would allow him to be. It wasn't his fault that most of them would not ever talk to him.
Anyone know when their license comes for renewal? A good case could be made for challanging it because of lack of local content.
24. Thank-you Laura K!
Fisher has canabalized that station and now the birds will pick the carcass clean. Vegas won't take the odds but I bet Carlson and Schram come back there in the VERY near future.
25. In my experience, being fired by KVI is the best career boost one can ask for.
(I'm pretty sure you can hear KFI 640AM in Seattle. I know we heard it in Monroe at 25K watts! Now we're back to 50K and we're booming.) Be sure to catch my all-military/war on terror/foreign policy/weapon tech show "Bryan's Dark Secret Place" on Sundays 2-4pm.
Of course, KFI is on iTunes.
26. Run, Kirby run... Governor, US Senate, US Congress!
27. #3,13 and 14. All the same guy. Funny. Not the smartest guy on the block. Local talk is becoming a lost art, and KVI as a radio station has pretty much lost my interest. Makes me want to go out and buy stuff from people who advertise on the David Boze Show.
28. If it was about ratings, why'd they replace Kirby with Laura Ingraham? I doubt she can pull in the local listeners like Kirby could, and I know for a fact she can't beat Glenn Beck. Rush Limbaugh probably could, but they lost him in another KVI blunder.
29. Kirby talking and mumbling for four hours was too much for me and my husband. Even Rush and Beck do not blather for 4 hours. I think Weissbach is smart to only do one hour as the interest is always there for we listeners.
Beck is good but his ranting and sound effects are too much first thing in the morning. Ingraham is too much in the morning too. I wish KVI would bring back Rappi Lappin, I loved his voice and his topics.
Kirby will get another job - somewhere.

31. Thanks for the Update Mark It comforts me to know Kirby is being sough after for other radio stations. Talk about a bone head move!
32. I stopped listening to KVI immediately after they let Bryan Suits go just in time for Veteran’s Day, so nothing KVI does shocks me. I wonder when KVI is going back to oldies?
33. I think this is the end of the road for KVI and now I will listen to KTTH. Sean Hannity can't hold the fort. I must say Laura Kiel has it right pull the advertising. . .that might make them listen.
34. Thanks Mark for the info.
Kirby is THE MAIN MAN. And I know he knows we love him and cannot wait to hear from him again.
35. kudos to Kiel Mortgage.
36. I used to like Kirby, but his unwillingness to expose corruption at the Washington State Supreme Court turned me off to him. Too bad he'd rather live with corruption by Gregoire and her cronies than also expose the corruption it because it would also implicate some of his friends in government.
Think Sarah Palin would hesitate to expose BOTH Democratic and Republican corruption?
37. "Think Sarah Palin would hesitate to expose BOTH Democratic and Republican corruption?"
No.
What makes you think she might?
38. 37:
Reread my post. Ever hear of a rhetorical question?
39. Don, what makes you think Kirby didn't want to expose corruption on the WSSC?
Rush Limbaugh Fan, Hmm, I don't know what makes Don think that. Maybe it's the fact that SHE ACTUALLY DID EXPOSE CORRUPTION WITHIN THE ALASKA STATE GOP! Maybe before you start shootin' your mouth off saying stupid things you should actually do some research. Nah, you're just a moronic liberal that thinks it's cute to throw around accusations with no facts to back them up.
40. WFP,
I gave him the proof and he didn't use it. I can also prove he got the information.
Problem is that if he exposed it, it would have also implicated Rob McKenna and even the more conservative justices on the WASC.
Email me and I can send you some of the info.
41. @ #25 Why, if it ain't Bryan Suits. Where the heck have you been? Glad to see your on the air, I'll add AM 640.
Back on topic, Have Kirb post up where he's headed. I agree with Lysander's assessments, but I still like the guy and his show. Principle is always at the top of my list, politics somewhere near the bottom. Perhaps I am just idealistic?
42. Mark,
Thanks for deleting my duplicate posts. I wish someday someone would figure out what is wrong with the software behind this board that makes all posts take for ever to take and occasionally do the multiple posts things (it is not just me, and I have no problem on other boards)
KDS@9: Why the rude personal attack?
Boxxerace@41: I am glad to see others look for principle in their host as well.
I should mention I do like Kirby also, just not his show. I met him at a GOP picnic a summer or two ago and he gave a nice speech and complimented all the Ron Paul supporters at the picnic (which GOP leadership sure would be smart to take note of here in the state).
43.
I think the FCC is the real driving factor here. Don't forget that radio stations are operating out of fear. The regulations being proposed by the malcontent Marxists will result in pushing popular conservative voices from the air. My sense of things is that the owners are beating the FCC to the punch.
It is just like Kirby to offer to take a hit for the team. Because he has really educated himself in history and civics, he will land on his feet.
Hang Tight, Kirb!

46. Kirby is a victim of the tolerant, diverse leftists in control of what used to be a flagship conservative station.
47. Kirby Wilbur is a voice for Washington State conservatism. the conservative voice in Washington is real and true compared to other parts of the country. The conservatives of the south pay lip service to conservative ideas, but being a conservative in the Seattle area takes real courage and strength.
48. I have been listening to KVI for many years. The morning commute with Kirby was the only conservative LOCAL talk radio show...I was really really upset when Bryan Suits was gone for my afternoon commute. What in the world is KVI thinking??? For the first time in a decade I have just changed my station on my car radio...I am done with KVI....you had me, you lost me.
49. I thing Kirby should run for Congress!
50. "I personally think that NY-23 was a wake up call to the GOP that the rank and file is sick of putting up 'Democrat Light' candidates. The fact that a write-in candidate almost won shows the Rush and the rest of the conservative wing of the GOP are on the right track."
I personally think, johnny. Try it sometime.
It's remotely possible that conservatism wins by losing (maybe 1964 set the stage for 1980, although I think Carter failure made Reagan possible and inevitable) but how many more GOP districts do you want to donate to Botoxic Granny before we're total and permanent losers?
Today Rush cited CNN, Gallup, and Rasmussen to show that independents prefer conservatives to Obama. Maybe Rush is right for a change. Maybe we'll reclaim NY-23 in 2010 and regain the House.
But Rush tends to be wrong. After Katrina he assured as that polls proved that 'the people' loved Gorge Bush. After losing impeachment in 1998-1999, Rush compounded his loss to Clinton by starting a ten-year no-win war against John McCain. Now he asserts or implies that Obama's to blame for Paulson's TARP.
At least Glenn Beck knows how to get a scalp ... ACORN's or a red green czar's. But Rush? He's a master of disaster, and Kirby was in the mushy middle. No great loss since we've lost so much already.
Rush was good today about Holder's insane transfer of KSM to Manhattan, but Rush now diminishes every message he touches. He and radio (aside from Monson) are part of our problem, not our solution.
51. @ 42 Thanks for deleting my duplicate posts. I wish someday someone would figure out what is wrong with the software behind this board that makes all posts take for ever to take and occasionally do the multiple posts things
Um, Lysander, all you have to do is look at that line with the little green bars on your bottom tool bar- if you see one green bar, the rest will follow- . Why this is so difficult to navigate for some is baffling to me. And you call yourself a libertarian?
52. I look forward to hearing Kirby on the air again sometime, hopefully soon!
I recently refinanced with Kiel Mortgage -- whom I learned about from KVI -- and was happy with the experience. But I have no reason to listen to KVI anymore. They have lost some quality hosts over the years: Kirby, Suits, Medved, Rush... But of course, the problem was with all these people, not KVI management.
53. Con Sol @ 32
"I wonder when KVI is going back to oldies?"
You know, If KVI went back to oldies from the late 1950s and early 1960s, I might actually go back to listening to them again. Even mid to late 60s.
54. Something tells me that Kirby will wind up hosting with his old buddy David Boze on KTTH.
55. Well I would be a very happy camper if Kirby replaced Michael Savage. That guy is so obnoxious.
When I started listening to KVI Kirby had just moved from nights, then Rush, Mike Seagal, Carlson, Mike Reagan. I never changed channels except when they did UW womens basketball.
Stations change but KVI seemed to blunder often. I like Laura and will probably alternate between her and Beck. But it is KTTH up to when I change away from Savage.
Jay
56. If you look at KVIs lineup now, its all syndication. They have national shows on all day now. I will assume its less a personality issue than a business issue.
I will miss the local talk with Kirby but he's a good guy.. he will certainly show up somewhere new.
57. I will miss the morning commutes with Kirby.
This is a blessing in disguise for both us and Kirby.
Kirby is a PATRIOT OF THE FIRST ORDER and he will land on his feet in a place of purposeful effect soon.
Hey Kirby, how about a book?
Bye Bye KVI
58. I immediately wanted to contact Kirby, but did not know where to call. I now listen to Glen Beck since Kirby is off, but I am waiting to see on which station Kirby will be talking. He is greatly missed, being an icon in this Seattle area. Laura just does not cut it for me, and neither does KVI anymore.
KIRBY, HURRY BACK TO THE AIR!
